With my new fancy schmancy Iranian passport + birth certificate, I liked to joke with Mo and say I was more Iranian than him.
It was no more than a week or two from the date I received my paperwork to the date we booked our tickets to Iran.
We had hoped to go by the end of the year but wasn't sure if/when it would happen.
I had set going to Iran as my New Year's resolution for 2015.

I said to Mo "Tickets are about $900 right now. It's not too hot there and I think we should look into going sooner rather than later. We have three steps to take before knowing if we can go or not. First, you need to talk to your boss. I need to talk to mine and lastly, we need to talk to our apartment supervisor."
I immediately wrote my boss an email. I had a feeling she'd be cool with it but it's important for me to have that green-light. Besides, I have like, the BEST JOB EVER..(more on that a different time).
Mo went to work the next day and his boss was totally fine with it. Lastly, we sent an email to our apartment supervisor. We promised we'd be back by rent time (1-5th of each month) and that the vacancies would all be rented (we had 2 at the time).
About 10 days before we were due to leave, those two Los Angeles to Tehran tickets were booked. We called Mo's grandma to tell her we'd be coming sometime within the next month or so.
Usually when buying a ticket to go to Iran, it was always a bittersweet moment. I'd be thrilled for Mo to see his grandparents but it was always rough on me.
This time I was going with.
Over the course of the next week and a half, Mo and I would constantly talk about Iran and couldn't get over the fact I was actually coming with him.
We would constantly pinch each other just to be sure it was real.
2 vacancies rented, one month of social media automated, letters passed around to tenants in case of emergency, jars of nutella purchased, some new fashion finds + scarves bought and some fancy eyelash extensions - we were ready to go.
